I seems that you are in Wilmington State Park/Brandywine Park. http://www.destateparks.com/park/wilmington/brandywine-park/index.asp (Hmm...DE State Parks call it a river? I'd thought creek too. :-\) Downstream from Market Street, the park ends and there is no trail along the bank. If you were to walk toward the Delaware River, along Vandever Ave. and 12th St. you would cross I-95 and reach the waste-water treatment plant and trash landfill blocking your way to the river. (About 2 mi.) If you were to walk along the streets near the south bank, you would zig-zag through depressed neighborhood to 7th St, past the Kalmar Nickel Shipyard, all the way to 7th St Park, a small city park where you can see the Brandywine meeting the Christianna.
